JAMES PHILLIP KENNEDY CLARK

JAMES PHILLIP KENNEDY CLARK (1877-1941) born at Tumut, son of Bryan Kennedy and Hannah Clark nee Jones. James enlisted to serve in WW1 on July 16th, 1915 at Liverpool to serve in the 1st AIF. He had been a member of the 6th Regiment Infantry Volunteers for 3 years, and 2 years with the Light Horse QLD and Queensland Mounted Rifles as 2nd Lieutenant (March 29th, 1898) and 1st Lieutenant (July 18th, 1899) in the Boer War where he was wounded with a gun shot in the right forearm. He was first place with the 5/30th Battalion and then the 4th Battalion -10th Reinforcements. By February 1916 he was serving as as an Hon. 1st Lieutenant. He embarked on the HT Nestor which arrived at Port Said on May 14th, 1916. He then embarked at Alexandria on HMAT Ivernia on June 21st, 1916. and disembarked at Marseilles on June 29th. His record shows that he was at Etaples and Calais before returning to Australia per HT Wiltshire for discharge. He suffered damage to the nerves on a lower leg. His appointment as a 1st Lieutenant was terminated on August 7th, 1917. He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and the Victory Medal.[DAVIS OF GOUNYAN - ROLL OF HONOUR - BM Pittman]
