A tribute to Arthur Roy Ford - Lest we Forget
Submitted by: Kathy Jonas

My grandmother's cousin, Arthur Roy Ford, was a schoolteacher in Parkes, NSW before travelling to Sydney to enlist in the AIF in September 1915.  Private Arthur Ford spent some months training in the hot sands of Egypt before he was transferred in March 1916 to France and the Western Front.

He was killed during heavy shelling and a raid by German troops on the Australian trenches on the night of 5th May 1916.  He was just 22 years old.  He is buried at the Brewery Orchard Cemetery in Bois-Grenier, not far from where he was killed.
