Always Remembered - "Darky Peacock"- John Clarence Peacock
Submitted by: Lynne Peacock

During an operation south of Bonny on September 29 1918, an enemy machine gun was giving much trouble from a flank position and causing casualties to "Darky's" platoon. Taking a Lewis Gun, "Darky" though under fire from five other enemy machine guns, attacked the most troublesome enemy gun and put it out of action. Later under cover of darkness he crept forward and obtained identification of the other enemy gunners. His courage and coolness saved his platoon from further casualties.
