Trooper P.J. Burt BELLINGER 231

Trooper P.J. Burt Bellinger was born in Murrurundi NSW. He was a 19 year old Labourer at time of enlistment. His next of kin was recorded as father, Michael Bellinger. He enlisted on 19th December 1914 at Liverpool NSW and embarked on the H.M.A.T. Suevic on the 21st December 1914. Trooper Bellinger died of wounds received in action at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli on the 18th June 1915. he was buried at Hillside cemetery, Anzac Cove by the Rev. J. Green. Reports state that Trooper Bellinger was getting ready for a bombing raid on Le Sars in the support lines when a shell exploded in the centre of a group of soldiers, killing Bellinger instantly with a wound to the chest. He was well known & liked by all his comrades.
