Private Cecil Thomas BARRACK 1103

Private Cecil Barrack was born in Murrurundi NSW. He was a 30 year old Engineer at time of enlistment. His next of kin was recorded as brother, John Barrack. He enlisted on the 10th September 1914 and joined the 9 Infantry Reinforcement. He embarked from Melbourne on the H.M.A.T A. 32 Themistocles on the 22nd December 1914. He joined the Gallipoli Campaign on the 2nd March 1915. Pte Barrack was killed in action on the 25th April 1915 by a sniper and buried on Deadman's Ridge. He was in a party that was sent out from the trenches to make a demonstration. The party was caught in the "Valley of Despair" and could not regain the trenches.
