James Francis AMBROSE 2611

Private James Francis Ambrose was born in Murrurundi NSW. He was a 21 1/2 year old Labourer at time of enlistment. His next of kin was listed as his mother, Mrs Mary Ambrose, of 39 Wilson Street Newtown NSW. He embarked on the A.40 Ceramic from Sydney NSW on the 7th October 1916. He disembarked at Plymouth on the 21 November 1916. He served with the 6/55th Battalion. He spent some time in hospital from sickness and was wounded on the 1st September 1918 from a gun shot wound to the chest. He was discharged to Base Depot on the 25th September 1918 and marched out to his unit on the 21st October 1918.He embarked for England on the 30th April 1919 from France and returned to Australia per Orita.
