Tribute to my Great Uncle Albert John Kempster
Submitted by: Marg Young

Albert John Kempster was born in Melbourne in August 1896. He was the 4th child of 8, born to Robert and Margaret Kempster. Albert enlisted in April 1916 at the age of 18 years and died of wounds on July 8th 1918 at the age of 20 years. Albert is buried in the Daours Communal Cemetery Extension in France. At the time of enlistment, Albert was employed as a Labourer and single.

Even though Albert had died more than 45 years before I was born, I always knew who he was. As my Grandmother (his youngest sister and sibling) had his War photograph hanging in her house. My sister is now the proud owner of the said photograph.

Gone, but never forgotten.
