Francis Rudd

FRANCIS RUDD (1892-1955) born at Gunning, son of Francis and Anne Rudd nee Wales. Frank enlisted at Goulburn on December 12th, 1915 to served in WW1 as Private 5449A, 53rd Battalion. He trained at Liverpool but soon found himself in France, He sailed on the HT Ceramic disembarking at Suez on May 16th, 1916. A month later saw him boarding the Ivernia at Alexandria for the journey Marseilles and Etaples. Ill health forced him back to England in 1916 but returned to France for a second time in 1917. He received Gas Poisoning while in France In November he was assigned to Pigeon School. He was awarded the 1914-15 Star, British war Medal and the Victory Medal.
